Are you into drone racing? Yes! Drone racing is quickly becoming a very popular activity because many people love to fly a drone while watching in FPV through your real time image Goggles.

And you are wrong if you thought you had to build your own racing drone because there are already great pre-built drones capable of flying at an incredible speed. Walkera had already entered the racing business with the Runner 250. However, with the releasing of the Furious 320 they have stepped up the game.

Walkera is a China-based drone manufacturer founded in 1994. It has established itself as one of the top drone manufacturers currently in the market.

The great thing about the Walkera Furious 320 is that you can watch in real time directly to FPV (First Person View) Goggles whatever the drone is watching. This drone is very fast and capable of flying at 120 km/h (74 mph). A unique thing about the Walkera Furious 320 is its motors because this drone features articulated motors and this feature makes the Furious 320 first tilt-motor racer.

Tilt-Motors

The Walkera Furious 320 is equipped with four brushless WK-WS-28-015 articulated motors, which means they rotate forward as the pilot gives the drone more stick.

This will result that the drone’s body stays steady and aerodynamic instead of leaning 45º like it usually happens with drones. This feature decreases drag and allows for a quicker acceleration, while also allowing a better FPV camera angle. The Furious 320 advertises a maximum speed of 120 km/h (74 mph).

However, because this drone is a bit heavy, pilots will notice that Furious 320 is slow while changing direction and turning left or right.

Material

Furious 320 frame is built with carbon fibre. This is a very resistant type of material, which means that you will not break or bend this drone easily. However, a few sections of this drone are made of plastic (some parts of the tilt-motors for example), which means that the Furious 320 is not the most resistant drone out there in the market.

However, this drone is still capable of bearing some hard crashes!

It is important to note that the Walkera Furious 320 is a bit heavier than most racing drones. This is not because of its material but it is because of the 4S 2600mAh battery.

This battery is 1950mAh larger than the average battery and it weighs 293 grams.

Flight Controller

The Walkera Furious 320 RTF comes with the Walkera DEVO 10 radio controller, which is an older generation transmitter from Walkera. However, this controller is still very powerful with 10 channels and 30-model memory.

It uses 4.8V-6V 1300mAh batteries, has an ARM micro computer system and works in 2.4GHz frequency. The drone responds responsively to a pilot’s inputs and the menu is easy to understand.

The Walkera Furious is also compatible with Walkera’s DEVO 7 controller. You can operate this drone up to 1,000 meters away from you using the included radio control transmitter.

On-Screen Display

On-Screen Display is a must to any serious FPV racer because it provides all the necessary flight live data to the pilot. The Runner 250 was Walkera’s first drone with On-Screen Display and they have upgraded it for the Furious 320.

This On-Screen Display is now more responsive. It also includes more information than before, such as the roll and pitch degrees.

Battery

The Walkera Furious 320 is equipped with a large 14.8V 2600mAh 25C 4S Li-Po battery, which provides about 10 minutes of flight time. The battery weighs 293 grams.

Camera

The Walkera Furious 320 is equipped with a high-quality built-in camera. This camera has 12MP, and is able to shoot photographs with 3000×4000 pixels and capture 1080p video. This camera is not the basic FPV camera and it actually provides very good quality footage. Real time image also has good quality and FPV transmitter works in 5.8 GHz frequency with a Live View Speed of 60 fps.

The capability of recording flight footage while transmitting live video is another great thing about this drone’s FPV camera. Most cameras do not have this dual functionality so pilots most pilots have to attach another camera to the drone, to enable them to record.

It is important to note that there is a CC3D version of Furious 320 which comes with an 800tvl camera instead.

GPS

GPS Navigation enables the Walkera Furious 320 to record the return point and calculate the remaining flight time based on the distance and height. The system will automatically prompt return when battery is low. This will allow a more accurate and safer flying positioning.

Smart LED

When the Furious 320 changes direction the lights will warn the pilots using energy-saving LED technology. This feature is very useful to avoid colliding with other drones during flight.

Walkera Furious 320 Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Easy to fly
  • Very good quality camera
  • Fast and stable

Cons

  • Heavy
  • Flight time is a bit low
  • Cornering not as good as the lighter drones

Summary

This racer will surely delight many pilots because it is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 120 km/h. The package includes everything you need to get flying straight out of the box, without modifications or upgraded parts.

Unfortunately the Furious 320 is a bit heavier and it as a slow turning. However, this is nothing serious and with a couple tweak this will become an amazing racing drone.
