DJI Mavic Air 2 Alternatives – Mavic Air 2 Clones

If you click a link on this page and make a purchase we will earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

DJI Mavic Air 2 is currently the best Mavic drone on the market. It was launched in April 2020 and all drone fans are unanimous in the verdict: Mavic Air 2 is a top drone that doesn’t deplete your budget but delivers profi-like videography and flight performance.

However, there are always people who look for alternatives and that is why we came up with a list of Mavic Air 2 alternatives, drones that are similar to Air 2 but a bit cheaper. Bear in mind that none of these Air 2 alternatives is better than this DJI flagship, however, they do more than a decent job and offer great price-value ratio.

Top 7 DJI Mavic Air 2 alternatives

DJI Mini 2

New favorite in the drone circles – Mini 2. Another cracking little quad from DJI that is under the mandatory license weight, just like its older sibling Mini.

Mini 2 comes with a 12MP camera that can, impressively enough, do a 4k video at 30 fps while also featuring a 4x digital zoom so you can safely fly it above the trees and potential dangerous objects and still catch excellent panoramic shots. This is the biggest improvement over its predecessor Mavic Mini. Granted, if you up your rate, the quality drops from 4k to 1920p. Still, good enough for a huge majority of pilots. Just like all DJI drones, it has a 3-axis gimbal and an impressive video transmission distance of 10km.

Sadly, it lacks any obstacle detection sensors so you will need to be more careful while flying it, or letting it follow you in crowded places like forests. Bear that in mind while you are in your adventure. It can almost match Mavic Air 2 when it comes to flying time though, as the mini bird can do a 31-minute flight with a single battery charge. And it is also almost two times cheaper than Air 2 so that is another plus, especially if you are strapped for cash.

DJI Mini 2 – Ultralight and Foldable Drone

Last update was on: December 1, 2024 04:06

Xiaomi Fimi X8 SE

The X8 SE drone has seen the light of day under the XIAOMI subsidiary brand FIMI. The Xiaomi FIMI X8 SE has a 4K camera and a three-axis gimbal and, thanks to its foldable design, resembles the DJI Mavic Pro or DJI Mavic 2 (Pro/Zoom).

As you would expect from Xiaomi, entry price is low enough at well under 500,- USD. With regard to the extensive equipment, the new 4K camera drone offers an extremely good price-performance ratio and can be seen as a serious alternative to the DJI camera drones from Mavic series.

Using the 4,500 mAh battery, the XIAOMI FIMI X8 SE should achieve a flight time of about 33 minutes. The manufacturer specifies the maximum flight speed at 64.8 kilometers per hour (18 meters per second).

The maximum flight altitude is – as with DJI-camera drones – limited on the software side to a maximum of 500 meters. The maximum flight distance of up to five kilometres is sufficiently dimensioned.

Potensic Dreamer 4k

The Potensic Dreamer 4K Drone is a big step forward for Potensic that usually builds toy drones. With this latest model, it is expanding its catalog of inexpensive machines that offer multiple options for pilots, enthusiasts, or novices.

Dreamer 4K is a mixed bag – you can definitely get a better drone for the money (Hubsan Zino Pro or ZLRC SG906 2 Pro for example) as this one lacks camera stabilization and has overly sensitive controls.

The Potensic Dreamer has a 1/3in Sony sensor capable of shooting 8.3 megapixel stills. But although it is dubbed as a 4K drone, it actually can’t shoot in 4K but it records at 2.7K at frame rate of 30fps. Even so, this resolution matches this of the highly popular DJI Mavic Mini.

Potensic Dreamer does have a 4K sensor that can capture images at 3840 x 2160, but the video footage is at 2688 X 1512. So, you should be aware about this small factor before you purchase the drone.

It has some great features, but beware of any accidents, because it has no obstacle avoidance abilities so if you find a tree or a wall in front of you, it will hit it hard.
