Battery

The EMAX EZ Pilot comes with a 1S battery. That is the same battery that you can use in the Tiny Hawk and the Tiny Hawk S models by EMAX. It comes with a little USB charger that you just pop on to the top of the drone and a little green light that blinks tells you when the drone is fully charged. Just be careful not to charge a 2S, or into a 1S slot or a 1S into a 2S slot. You want to make sure that the charger using is compatible with the 1S battery before you charge these with it.

Design and look

We will now go ahead and show you a couple of cool things, features of EZ Pilot drone. Number one, it has the protection around the blade, so if you run into a wall or hit something, you’re not going to break a blade right out of the gate. It does come with four spare props, which is nice, because you’ll probably end up needing them.

In order to get the drone going, you’ll need to plug the battery in or slide the battery into the slot down here and then plug it in and then set it on a level surface fairly quickly. Let it calibrate, turn on the remote control.

Remote control

There are three modes on the control stick, beginner is in the bottom, intermediate is in the middle and more advanced at the top. Remote Controller
  • Size: 182*135*82(mm)
  • Weight (without battery): 210g
  • Channels: 6 Channels
  • Transmission Frequency: 2.4GHz ISM Band(2400MHz~2483.5MHz)
  • Output Power: 22dbm
  • Modulation: GFSK
  • Battery: 1s 18650 lipo battery

Simple mode – mode one

But if you want an easy, no hassle start, choose the simple mode and when you take off, it’s going to take off automatically. You can’t do any yaw and you can’t control the altitude, it does that automatically. The only way you can control the altitude is to push the stick all the way up to go up, all the way down to go down. The drone is great for beginners, as it makes it pretty easy to fly because you are just using one stick, combining the yaw and pitch and roll into one move.

Intermediate mode – mode two

If you switch to the next mode, it gives you yaw control. But also in addition to yaw control, it’s got the altitude hold. So, a little easier to fly if you wanted to use the yaw and the stick and not have to worry about altitude. It’s not perfect, but it’s doing a pretty good job.

Advanced mode – mode three

And then finally, switching the stick all the way up, gives you full angle control which allows you to go up and down, climb the sand, all that kind of stuff, just like a regular tiny whoop quad.

Goggles

You have different lighting conditions and it uses auto exposure, you can adjust the channel, as well as the brightness and the contrast in these goggles. You can also adjust the language. And I think you can swap out for better antennas if you wanted to. Goggles
  • Size: 140×153×90(mm)
  • Weight (without battery): 398g
  • Resolution: 480×272
  • Battery: 1s 18650 lipo battery

Conclusion

So that’s it the Emax EZ pilot, an all in one kit that allows you to learn how to fly FPV indoors or out on a calm day. It is really nice because you don’t have to buy separate components and at $119 it’s a pretty high quality product that will allow you to get to a certain level of flying. And then once you get to that level, you can invest in something like this, the Tony Hawk S that allows you to fly in acro mode and really learn how to fly without the training wheels. Great drone for beginners though, if you want to get into flying FPV. Read here more about drones you can buy under $200 or here to find out more about the top FPV drones of today.
